Bidding Process of Olympic Stadium Not to Reopen

In order to reopen the bidding process of contentious Olympic Stadium, Olympic Park Legacy has rejected calls. After an independent audit, no evidence has been found that employee who has earlier worked for West Ham United is behind this decision.l

This news will be a huge disappointment for Tottenhan Hotspur who will challenge the decision of awarding Olympic Stadium to West Ham and newham Council in High Court. In order to block this move, it will be a legal step.

On the other hand, Mayor of London office along with government has endorsed the decision of not reopening the bidding process.

The OPLC’s director of Corporate services, Dionne Knight has already been suspended in the month of June, as it has been disclosed that she has been the part of West Ham. OPLC made statement that Knight was in relationship with the Olympic project director of West Ham, Ian Tompkins and agreed for consultancy work for east London club.

An independent audit has been commissioned from accountants Moore Stephens. No evidence had been found regarding Knight’s accessibility to the confidential information. Moreover, nothing has been found regarding the passing of information regarding the stadium process to West Ham.

It said, “After considering the report the Olympic Park Legacy Company Board has concluded there are no grounds for reconsidering their recommendation to select the consortium of West Ham United FC and the London borough of Newham as the preferred bidder for the legacy use of the Olympic Stadium.”

It has been further added, “The legacy company's founder members, the mayor of London and government, have also concluded that there are no grounds for reconsidering their decision to select West Ham United FC and the London borough of Newham as preferred bidder.”

Spurs argued regarding the pulling down of majority of the stadium and rebuilding of dedicated football ground. LOCOG Chair States No Security Fears for 2012 London Olympics

Chairman of London Organising Committee for the 2012 London Olympics, Lord Coe is quite happy, as members of International Olympic Committee, IOC have been staying in London. Although, this week London has gone through some of the worst riotous scenes, still members of LOCOG have marked their presence in London to make the upcoming Olympics a huge success.

The Football international friendly match between England and Netherlands has been cancelled. On the other hand, Badminton World Championships played at Wembley Arena and beach volleyball Olympic Test event to be played at Horse Guards Parade went on.

While addressing BBC Sport, Lord Coe said, “The images that have been beamed around the world have been disfiguring, and as a Londoner I probably find that as perplexing as the next person. That's not the London I recognise.”

He further added, “I am confident that we will have contingency plans in place and be prepared for all eventualities in a year's time. But the 205 national Olympic committees have effectively seen a city, test events and world championships all going ahead under pretty much normal circumstances.”

Lord Coe keep on insisting that London is surely the safest place to stage London Olympics games. He stated, “Security is always a big issue - there's not been an Olympic Games since 1972 and in my lifetime of watching an Olympics, which has not been underpinned by security. I am confident that we will have contingency plans in place and be prepared for all eventualities in a year's time - treat it in a way as a test.”

Most of the rioting images of London clearly shows the presence of youth, which signifies that most of the London’s youth are unaware of the real spirit of London Olympics Games. Lord Coe admitted that lots of work need to do and the young crowd need to made aware. Olympic education programme needs to be spread among the sports lovers for making this event hugely successful and peaceful.

Mcllroy stated, “As the Olympic Games come closer I think the excitement will build for it and people will get into it more and I think it's great for the game of golf that it's now become an Olympic sport. 'It will spread the game all over the world and make it recognised in different countries, which can only be good. 'So I may as well just say I don't know and wait until four or five years' time whenever I have to make a decision.”

In case, he attains top 15 position at cut off point, Mcllroy would get guaranteed position in 60-strong field. He stated, “It would be a huge honour to represent your country. It would be a great achievement to win a gold medal.”

Marathon Director Bedfords Warn Farah to Avoid Pressure in 2012 London Olympics

Race Director of London Marathon, David Bedford has send warning to Mo Farah to win minor medal instead of gold for the upcoming world championships. This would save him from the growing pressure of expectation for the upcoming 2012 London Olympics.

In both the 5000 and 10, 000 metres, Farah is positioned number one and going into championships held in Daegu, South Korea and victory in 3000 m played at Aviva London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace. This was his 10th successful victory.

Farah is simply at his finest form, as Bedford said, “He’s potentially as good an athlete as we’ve ever had”. He further added, “He ran a stunning last lap and an even more stunning 200 metres. He’s going into Daegu as a real gold medal prospect. It’s a real opportunity for him but I think, though, he would be better coming second or third. Then the pressure and expectation on him won’t be as much going into London 2012. But I don’t think he will accept that.”

Thus, Farah would be able to ignore all the London hype at his training base in Portland, Oregon and World championship gold will bring worldwide glory to his career.

Sir Ian Johnston, Director of security and resilience of London 2012 said, “There will be different times at each venue, the queue times will vary, it might be single digits, the norm will be around 20 minutes wait times, but we will be able to tell people closer to Games time.”

Although, London Organizing committee of Olympic Games has not released details of how long spectators need to wait outside the entry gate.

2012 London Olympics Aquatics Centre Inaugurated

IOC President, Jacques Rogge, IOC Coordination Commission Chairman, Dennis Oswald and LOCOG chairman Sebastian Coe has enjoyed the first swim of London 2012 Aquatics Centre along with number of invitees.

The brand new pool has been inaugurated by a group of young swimmers from local borough of Newham, Olympian David Davies along with beneficiary of the International Inspiration programme of London 2012.

These young swimmers have been joined by part of GB synchronized swimming team. IOC President Jacques Rogge stated regarding the centre, “It was fantastic to see the young swimmers get the opportunity to have the first-ever swim in the London 2012 Aquatics Centre. It will be a fantastic venue during the Games and I am confident that the athletes will be very happy when they take to the water themselves in earnest next year. It is also reassuring to see that the local organisers have thought about legacy, and I am sure that many of the young athletes we saw today will come back and try out the pool again once the Games are over.”
