Iran claiming that 2012 London Olympic Games logo is ‘racist’, as it resembles biblical term of Jerusalem, Zion. The National Olympic Committee of Iran has sent a letter to the International Olympic Committee. The International Olympic committee criticized the emblem.
According to that letter, all the Muslim states have been urged to oppose this racist logo. IOC issued a statement, “The London 2012 logo represents the figure 2012, nothing else.” The Logo of London Olympics features number 2012 in four jagged figures and it has been criticized a lot for the design.
London Organizing Committee has issued a statement, “[The logo] was launched in 2007 following testing and consultation. We are surprised that this complaint has been made now.”
Secretary General of Iran, Bahram Afsharzadeh said, “There is no doubt that negligence of the issue from your side may affect the presence of some countries in the games, especially Iran which abides by commitment to the values and principles.”
