2012 London Olympics Cycling trial will be at Hampton Court

In the upcoming 2012 London Olympics Games, Cycling Time Trial will start and end at Historic Hampton Court palace. The event includes two Road Cycling disciplines, which also includes competitors riding individually against the clock. The distance will be of 44km for men, whereas 29km for women.

Riders will begin at 90 second intervals and the one who takes less time will win the gold medal. Chair of LOCOG, Seb Coe said, “Hampton Court Palace is a stunning venue that will showcase the area. We have worked closely with the International Cycling Union (UCI) and our partners to ensure that we have the best possible sporting course for the athletes and we are confident of spectacular races and worthy winners. Following Team GB’s medal success in Beijing, the Road Cycling events really will bring the magic of the Games to life for many thousands of spectators.”

Public do not need tickets to enjoy this event and can view it free. On the fifth day of games, races will commence. Boris Johnson, Mayor of London stated, “This is another great example of how we are bringing events to the outer boroughs of the city so that all Londoners can feel the buzz of the Games.”
