Upcoming 2012 Summer Olympics Games to be held in London, United Kingdom. Official name of 2012 Summer Olympics is Games of XXX Olympiad. The stunning Olympic event will commence from 27th July to 12th August 2012. London has officially hosted modern Olympic Games for the third time. London has been the host of Olympic Games in the year 1908 and 1948.
During the 117th IOC Session, London has been announced as the host city on 6th July 2005 in Singapore. After four voting rounds, London won the bid after defeating Moscow, New York City, Madrid and Paris. Sebastian Coe, former Olympic champion headed the successful bid.
For the preparation of Games, various areas of London have been redeveloped with the theme of sustainability. Interestingly, budgetary considerations have created lots of problems.
In order to check the oversee staging of Games, London Organising Committee has been created. On 7th October 2005, first board meeting was held. Lord Coe is the chairperson of this committee.
