2012 London Olympics Latest News

12 year old Siphiwe Mbatha has been the part of video for the successful bid of London for the Olympics Games. Mbatha is 18 year old now and is residing at Soweto said, “When I came to Britain in 2005, Sebastian Coe said ‘Come back for the Olympics’. But I haven’t spoken to anyone from London for almost six years. I thought I was coming to the opening ceremony but no one has contacted me.”

One of the spokesperson of London said, “London 2012 has stayed in contact with Siphiwe and we hear the opposite from him. He has said to us that 'London has changed everything for me, I love London.' We are delighted that his experience with London and being involved with the bid has been positive for him.”

With the escalation of sale of Olympic tickets, Mbatha’s claim comes into effect. Team GB athletes and former British Olympians can access thousands of tickets. Diver Tom Daley and Cyclist Bradley Wiggins missed out in public ballot.

All Team GB athletes can access up to two tickets as confirmed by British Olympic Association for family. These tickets resulted after deal with LOCOG with the International Olympic Committee. Every athlete will be offered two tickets for the competition. Swimmers would be provided with just one ticket in every session.

Olympic Officials stated that restriction is due to the less occupancy of the venue, i.e. 17,000. Approximately 3500 British former Olympians would be able to access tickets via BOA. Chris Townsend, LOCOG Director also rejected complaints regarding the 2012 Olympic Ticketing System.

While addressing a sports daily, Telegraph Sport said, “Most payments from successful applications have been taken, There is a still a slight chance you may receive tickets from a reallocation of cards that could not be processed.”
