Edinburgh International Festival Announcement - 2012 London Olympics Latest News

For the Edinburgh International Festival, announcement for the lineup has been made! It will feature seven performances along with productions planned as part of 2012 London Festival. The lowland Hall of Royal Highland centre is successfully transformed into theatrical space. It will house three productions for the London 2012 festival, as cannot be staged in conventional theatres.




Ariane Mnouchkine, the legendary French director marks return to UK with production Les Naufrages du Fol Espoir (Aurores). Ruth Mackenzie, London 2012 Festival Director stated, “Edinburgh International Festival along with Creative Scotland are key partners in delivering a fantastic programme for the London 2012 Festival in Scotland, which will deliver a legacy of new audiences and partnerships leading right up to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.”

He further added, “This programme is a great example of the once-in-a-lifetime shows which will bring tourists and visitors to Edinburgh as part of the celebrations of the London 2012 Festival.”

From all over 47 nations, 3000 artists will feature in the Edinburgh International Festival. All of them will gather to share live experience of dance, opera, theatre and music. We rejoice in our partnership with the Olympic Games.
