2012 London Olympics Unveils Athete Accommodation

London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) made announcement regarding the plans of delivery of athlete accommodation in ‘gold medal standard’. In the Olympic and Paralympic Villages, first completed apartments have been unveiled today.

During the Olympic Games, village will hold up to 16,000 athletes as well as team officials along with 6200 athletes and team officials as well as 1,000 referees and umpires during Paralympic Games. In the month of February, the village was handed over by Olympic Delivery Authority. In order to get the site ready for games, lots of fit-out and overlay work started by LOCOG and its sponsors as well as partners.




All across the village, work has started, whereas the first kitted out Games time apartments have been disclosed today. These apartments are equipped with:

The Bedroom furniture comprises of 16,000 beds, 9000 wardrobes and 11,000 sofas. All of them will be assembled as well as installed by UPS all over the apartments.
Next supplied the homeware items which comprises of 22,000 pillows, 1200 blankets and 28,000 branded duvets.

Every apartment has its own comfortable lounge which comprises of Panasonic television along with BT Infinity, the latest fibre optic broadband from BT.
Hotel standards will be run in all the 11 residential blocks in Village. The Residential plots are built around spacious courtyards. There are 2,818 apartments which covers 11 residential plots. The Chair of LOCOG’s Athletes Committee, Olympic Gold medallist Jonathan Edwards stated, “Our focus at the Athletes' Committee is to ensure the Village provides the comfort and convenience needed by modern performance athletes. Using the extensive Games experience of the Athletes' Committee members, I'm confident we have helped create the perfect base for the Olympians and Paralympians coming to London this summer.”
