In order to celebrate the 2012 London Olympics Games, collection of specially commissioned images by twelve leading artists of UK have been unveiled.
All the images distinctively interprets Olympic or Paralympic Games by artists. The artists of Olympic posters are Martin Creed, Anthea Hamilton, Howard Hodgkin, Chris Ofili, Bridget Riley and Rachel Whiteread.
Fionna Banne, Michael Craig-Martin, Tracey Emin, Gary Hume, Sarah Morris and Bob and Roberta Smith have designed the Paralympic posters.
For the promotion of 2012 London Olympics Games, these images will become the part of high-profile campaign. They will go on free exhibition at Tate Britain as a part of London 2012 Festival. In the last 100 years, these official posters have become special celebration of the meeting of art and sport.
LOCOG, The London Organizing Committee has marked return to the artistic tradition. To select the inal 12, it is working on a judging panel with Tate and Plus Tate Group. Nicholas Serota, Director of Tate said, “We are delighted that British artists have produced such compelling images in response to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
