Willoughby Winner of World Champion- 2012 London Olympics Latest News


As the 2012 London Olympics is approaching fast, Sam Willoughby will savour his first senior BMX world title. The South Australian cyclist assured his status to be one of the favorites of Games medal as he dominated at worlds in Birmigham, England. The 2008 and 2009 junior world champion, Willoughby has been the winner of all preliminary races except the quarter final. The results at the world stands will clearly mean that Australia will feature team of three men and two women during the games. The 20 year old, Willoughby stated, “I'm going to enjoy this one (and) then switch gears and go for that Olympic one. We'll start training again in a week or so but right now I'm going to let this thing sink in because that's going to take a week or so. I've dreamt of this since I was six, before I even started BMX I was a fan. I had an ice cream `lid' in my backyard on my bike with W1 (world No.1) on it and here it is.” After completing second at the opening three Supercross World Cup rounds, the world title was a significant boost for Willoughby.
