For the most innovative sports based project, the International Inspiration programme of London 2012 has been given the JA Samaranch Trophy. At the Global Sports Forum in Barcelona, II Foundation Chair Sir Keith Mills collected the trophy.
The prestigious award is presented in the recognition of legacy programme’s innovative approach, impact and sustainability.
In order to connect young people all across the world, International Inspiration is bringing to life the promise which was made by London 2012 bid team. The most remarkable achievement till date, the programme is mainly used sport to educate more than 1.5million young people in Zambia regarding issues like HIV and AIDS.
Keith Mill said, “I'm thrilled and very proud to have received this award on behalf of the International Inspiration team. 'When we bid for the Games back in 2005, we said we were committed to transforming the lives of children and young people around the world through the power of sport. International Inspiration is the result of that promise and is helping us leave a lasting legacy, years after the London 2012 Games have finished.”

2012 London Olympics Play Off Match
On 23 April 2012, a play off match will be played at City of Coventry Stadium. For the final qualifying place of men’s Olympic Football Tournament, it will up for grabs in play-off match. Participation of Senegal is confirmed as they ended in fourth position in African qualifying competition. Thus, securing their first ever men’s Olympic Football Appearance.
From the Asian qualifying competition, opponents of Senegal will be at fourth position. It will conclude on 29 March 2012. All the potential opponents are Australia, Bahrain, Iraq, Japan, Korea Republic, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE and Uzbekistan.
Director of Sport at the London 2012 Organising Committee, LOCOG, Debbie Jevans stated, “The men’s Olympic Football Tournament Qualification Play-Off Match is an important part of our preparations ahead of the men’s and women’s Olympic Football Tournament this summer. We will test our operations alongside pre-existing systems and the match gives spectators the chance to see the final qualification match for the men's Olympic Football competition.”
According to the Events Manager at City of Coventry Stadium, Justine Hewitt said, “We hope as many football fans as possible will come along to watch the game in April – a crucial match for both sides as they fight it out for London 2012 qualification.”

London will be the first city to host the modern Olympic Games for the third time. Earlier, London has hosted the event in the year 1908 and 1948. During the 117th IOC Session held in Singapore, London was selected as the host city on 6th July 2005.
After four voting rounds, it defeated Moscow, New York City, Madrid and Paris. Former Olympic Champion, Sebastian Coe headed the successful bid.

London 2012 New Landmark on Walking and Cycling Route
For the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on the Greenway, the Duke of Gloucester disclosed a new permanent landmark, which is a major London 2012 cycle and walkway.
On the Greenway, sixty glass pavement markers create a piece along with scintillating lighting effect for around 60 second. This will generate a simmering night effect.
The Greenway which is located in the boundaries of Olympic Park will become a part of Jubilee Walkway Trust of around 60km London wide walking and cycling route. It will celebrate the 60 year old reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
Approximately 500 square glass plaques wil mark the rest of route and connect central London Games venues along with several favorite parks of the capital, attractions, palaces and views.
The Duke of Gloucester, His Royal Highness said, “It is wonderful that the Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Games have come together to create a unique emblem on the edge of the Olympic Park that will be enjoyed by people for years to come.”
