For the prestigious London Olympics event, Jessie Phua has been announced as the delegation chief of Singapore squad. He has urged athletes to give some of their best performances in British Musical. She wants table tennis team of women to repeat their silver medal performances during 2008 Beijing Olympics!




56 year old also stated that she would be happy with good performance from swimmer Tao Li. While addressing Today, she acknowledged there will be high expectations for paddlers, as she said, “That (defending the silver) goes without saying.

Everybody will definitely be looking to table tennis to repeat the feat. The (competition) format has changed such that the number of Chinese players competing will also change, so hopefully the playing field will be more level this time and they will be more competitive. We can look forward to another brilliant performance from the table tennis team.”

The Chinese capital has a few Olympic medalists of Singapore, which includes a team of Feng Tianwei, Wang Yuegu, Li Jiawei, Sun Beibei and Yu Mengyu.

For the final of an Olympic event, 21 year old Tao Li is the first Singaporean swimmer to qualify for Olympic event. London Olympics Organisers Allows Criminal Convicts as Security Guards

Recently, organizers of London 2012 Games have made confirmation that unlicensed people with criminal records can participate in this glorious event as security guards in the venues. The Telegraph also disclosed weakening of legislative security requirements for the London Olympics Games.




LOCOG spokesperson stated, “People with minor convictions will not necessarily be barred from working at the Games, just as having a minor criminal conviction is no longer a bar to joining the police service.”

The student security officers will comprise a minimum of 8,000 to 10,000 of company’s 10,000 – 15,000 security contractors. There is no requirement to satisfy industry standard regulation along with the possession of Security Industry Act License.

One of the spokesperson of LOCOG have also confirmed that LOCOG has also made submission of an application which states exemption of Private Security Industry Act.

2012 London Olympics Spectators to Wait Outside

During the 2012 London Olympic Games, spectators have been warned 20 minutes delay to make an entry into Olympic Park.




Before the morning preliminary sessions, at the security scanning areas, long queues are expected to enter Olympic Park. Sir Ian Johnston, Director of security and resilience of London 2012 said, “There will be different times at each venue, the queue times will vary, it might be single digits, the norm will be around 20 minutes wait times, but we will be able to tell people closer to Games time.”

Although, London Organizing committee of Olympic Games has not released details of how long spectators need to wait outside the entry gate.

2012 London Olympics Aquatics Centre Inaugurated

IOC President, Jacques Rogge, IOC Coordination Commission Chairman, Dennis Oswald and LOCOG chairman Sebastian Coe has enjoyed the first swim of London 2012 Aquatics Centre along with number of invitees.




The brand new pool has been inaugurated by a group of young swimmers from local borough of Newham, Olympian David Davies along with beneficiary of the International Inspiration programme of London 2012.

These young swimmers have been joined by part of GB synchronized swimming team. IOC President Jacques Rogge stated regarding the centre, “It was fantastic to see the young swimmers get the opportunity to have the first-ever swim in the London 2012 Aquatics Centre. It will be a fantastic venue during the Games and I am confident that the athletes will be very happy when they take to the water themselves in earnest next year. It is also reassuring to see that the local organisers have thought about legacy, and I am sure that many of the young athletes we saw today will come back and try out the pool again once the Games are over.”
