2012 London Olympics Flame to Visit Shakespeare Birthplace



In the London 2012 Olympics Torch Relay, the flame travels through 17 communities and carried by the youngest Torchbearer 12 year old Dominic Macgowan. The flame will then mark a visit to the birthplace of Shakespeare in Stratford upon Avon. All the young people who are involved in the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust’s Education programme will greet the flame. 

Georgina Harland will carry the flame, who is the winner of bronze medal in Modern Pentathlon at the Athens 2004 Olympics Games. Georgina is also the mentor of other athletes, whereas the Chair of International Federations Athlete’s Commision.

The day marks an end with the evening celebration. During the day, the flame will travel across the following communities, which includes Birmingham, Solihull, Earlswood, Redditch, Astwood Banks, Alcester, Evesham, Wickhamford, Broadway, Chipping Campden, Newbold-on-Stour, Alderminster, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa, Kenilworth and Coventry.
