Amidst huge security, preparation of 2012 London Olympics is going great! Recently, a 40-year-old woman security guard has been arrested, as there was suspicion of carrying explosives. She is a dog handler and was detained near Olympic Stadium after police have searched her vehicle.
Olympic site support unit, OSSU officers made the arrest as confirmed by Metropolitan Police. Police is not considering this incident as terror driven and there is no risk at all. On Tuesday, the woman has been arrested on the suspicion of carrying explosives and Class A drugs. In East London police station, she has been interrogated.
Scotland Yard also stated that police recover a very little amount of substance, which was forensically examined. One of the spokesmen of Olympics Security provider G4S stated, “Our canine services team is licensed to hold small samples of explosives for training purposes and are required to undertake rigorous training and follow strict operational processes. Our canine services teams are highly effective because the dogs are able to regularly train using 'live' training aids. All dog handlers are fully vetted and operate to the highest industry standards. G4S take breach of operational processes very seriously and are assisting the police with their inquiries in relation to this incident.”
