For the World Sport Day, London 2012 made announcements regarding the plans for school children all over UK to participate in sporting and cultural activities. On 25th June, Lloyds TSB will present this spectacular event.
The day will open Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week in England and Wales. Thousands of young people will get a chance to participate in final across UK.
In order to celebrate athletes and cultures of the world, students from schools and colleges will be motivated. This will include staging their own opening ceremony along with profiling sports, music, languages, flags and food of the world.
Seb Coe, LOCOG Chair stated, “With the Games almost here, World Sport Day presented by Lloyds TSB is a fantastic opportunity to bring the young people of the UK together on one day to celebrate our amazing athletes from all over the world, and their nations and cultures.”
With the aid of official London 2012 education programme, ‘Get Set’, LOCOG, London 2012 Organising Committee will offer resources to schools, which also includes tips from London 2012 Ceremonies team regarding planning of opening ceremony.
Zoe Smith, Team GB athlete stated, “London 2012 World Sport Day is a great way to celebrate how London 2012 will bring athletes together from so many different cultures.
