Paul Deighton, the chief executive of LOCOG, London organizing committee requested that torch relay should allow to present “ordinary people who have done extraordinary things for the community”.

He stated, “It would be absolutely terrible to ruin that moment for these people, I don't know why anyone would want to do that (protest or interrupt the relay).”
