At the New Olympic Stadium of London, a special one-off event will give 40,000 people an opportunity to join popular faces, celebrities and sports stars. The special ticketed event which is known as ‘2012 Hours to Go: An evening of Athletics and Entertainment’ will follow on from British Universities & College Sport (BUCS). On the same day, Visa Outdoor Athletics Championship will be held in Stadium.
The London 2012 Organising Committee of Olympics Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) made announcement regarding the sale of tickets. The tickets will be on sale from 10am on 15th March Thursday, which will cost around £20 (£10 for concessions).
The event will begin at 7 pm and comprise of final hour of BUCS Visa Outdoor Athletics Championships evening session. The competitors will join the ranks of former champions of BUCS, such as Perri Shakes Drayton, Dai Greene and Hannah England.
The evening session will comprise of series of UK Athletics Invitational events which feature some of the best athletes of Britain. All of them are looking for position in Team GB. After athletics, the celebrity host will be accompanied with popular faces, such as Olympians and Paralympians. They will participate in a series of stunts, games, challenges and prizes.
40, 000 audience will be minimized to just one lucky winner and will be brought to the middle of the stadium to officially open the venue. Seb Coe LOCOG Chair said, “This is a great opportunity for people to experience the venue that will take centre stage this summer. As well as a great evening of entertainment, this will be an invaluable test and another warm-up event for the Olympic Stadium.”
