Olympic Park to Host First Paralympic Test Event

The London International Goalball Tournament, first Paralympic test event begins this weekend from 3rd to 4th December at the Handball Arena on the Olympic Park.
Goalball is one of the Paralympic events offering tickets for the upcoming year.




This is a 3-a-side team sport in which visually impaired athletes use ball with bells. It is a considered as one of the most enthralling and enjoyable Paralympic sports. This play is mainly conducted in silence featuring sound of the bells which is mainly used to judge the movement of ball.

Director of Sport at LOCOG, Debbie Jevans stated, “It will be fantastic to see competitive Paralympic sport happening for the first time in the Olympic Park and we are delighted to welcome Goalball teams from around the world.”

The London International Goalball Tournament is a part of London Prepares Series which is an official sports testing programme for London 2012. LOCOG will be using test event to test key operations which includes technology and timing, workforce and transition of Handball Arena from Handball to Goalball competitions.
