For the participation of Indian athletes in the upcoming 2012 London Olympics, government has allocated around Rs 260 cr. While addressing Rajya Sabha, Sports Minister Ajay Maken made announcement.
While replying to supplementaries, minister stated that Indian athletes would participate in 16 sports. The sports mainly includes aquatics, badminton, basketball and cycling.
He further informed that to train the athletes around 111.19 crore has already been spent. While addressing the Upper House, Maken said, “Nearly Rs. 111.19 crore has already been spent in training athletes, which includes international exposure, international coaches and other things.”
