During the special event held at John Lewis Westfield Stratford City, kids celebrated their seventh birthday in the London 2012 Children’s Promise Scheme.
All the kids were quite excited to meet Olympic mascot Wenlock and Olympics gold medallist Jonanthan Edwards. They also received a birthday cake as well as some gifts from Westfield and London 2012 Shop.
In the year 2004, the Children’s Promise Scheme has been launched for kids all across Uk who took birth on 20th day of 12th month. All such children were eligible to register them with the London 2012 Organising Committee, LOCOG. Approximately 700 children have been registered during the scheme.
LOCOG Chair Seb Coe said, “These children have been on a journey with us right from the start and I’m pleased that they will have the opportunity for both an Olympic Games and a Paralympic Games experience next year. I would like to wish all of our Children’s Promise participants a very happy seventh birthday, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”
