Organizers of 2012 London Olympics have released details of 8000 mile journey of flame which will travelled all over 1000 cities, towns and villages. Approximately 8000 people will carry the Olympic torch.
It will fly off the Tyne Bridge on zip wire and will be carried all across Corwall with the aid of balloon, down rapids in Hertfordshire and in Sidecar of TT motorcycle on the Isle of Man.
London Organising Committee of Olympics and Paralympic Games, LOCOG stated that torchbearers will carry the Olympic flame.
Rest of the journey will be covered by horseback, bicycle, tram and steam train. Hundreds of landmark will be covered in the relay, which comprises of Snowdon, Loch Ness, the Eden Project and Stonehenge. The LOCOG chairman, Lord Coe stated, “I’m delighted that the Olympic torch relay will take the 2012 Games to almost every corner of the UK and that we have achieved our ambition to take the flame to within an hour’s journey of 95 per cent of the population. Now everyone is invited to plan their welcome and find out where they can go to be part of this historic occasion.”
