2012 London Olympics Hockey Centre

Recently LOCOG, the London Organising Committee displayed the first blue and pink pitch of Hockey centre. During the Olympic Hockey competition, yellow ball will be used for the first time. Based on this Olympic Park, Hockey Centre will host Olympic Hockey and Paralympic 5-a-side and 7-a-side football competitions. Approximately 780, 000 spectators will be the host of this glorious event.




Game color will be reflected with the playing field area which will be Blue. The pitch is surrounded with colored London Pink. Head of Sport Competition at LOCOG, David Luckes said, “We are delighted with how the main pitch at the Hockey Centre looks. The blue and pink pitch combined with the yellow ball will not only make following the ball easier, it also has a fantastic London 2012 feel.”

He further added, “The player feedback has been excellent and we will continue to work together to ensure the pitches are perfect for the Games next year.”

Great Britain Women Hockey Squad’s Alex Danson said, “Coming in to the Olympic Park makes everything very real and the excitement is really building within the squad. The pitch is great to play on; it's really quick and true, and enables us to play with confidence.”

Populous designed the complex, which comprises of two pitches, one for competition and one for warm up. The construction of main competition pitch is completed and to used for Hockey and 7-a-side Football.
