Although, Chris Wellington has recently met bike crash and bruised leg, still she remarkably won Ironman races. 34 year old Wellington has completed 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and 26.2 mile run in 8 hrs 55m 8 secs. In past five years, she has won the crown for the fourth time.
Due to ill health, Wellington was unable to participate in the last year race. Britain’s Leanda Cave had been positioned third in 9:03:29.
Wellington said, “This race means more to me than anything. It's the sweetest victory - I just proved that anything is possible.” She further added, “I had to dig so deep today. I tried to have faith in my body. There were times that my body was going to give up on me. I think the hardest victories are definitely the sweetest but to be crowned the Ford Ironman World Champion is the greatest honor.”
In the year 2007, she won her first Hawaii title and quit her designation of civil servant. Until 2011, she has given some of the finest performances.
